There is a new paper out analyzing the differential impact of work from home (WFH) vs AI in entry-level hiring. It comes, fairly convincingly, to the conclusion that the former is the real cause of the weak entry-level job market, not AI.
As you can see in the following graph, the decline in entry-level hiring pre-dates ChatGPT, and the slope of decline hasn't changed much since. The FT looked at this paper's data, as well, trying to tease out the differential impact, and it came to the same conclusion: Greedo (WFH) shot first, not AI.
